Meditation from the Poor Clare Nuns ~ October 13

Mother of Good Counsel (pray for us). This is a beautiful and consoling title for Mary, and one we know from experience that it is so true. The Mother who loves us, prays for us, cares for us will always give us ‘good counsel’ if we go to her.

We may attempt to find answers, solutions to many of our problems and sufferings in many different places and with many different people. But ultimately the best counsel we can receive is from Mary. She whose son is called, WONDERFUL Counsellor, Mighty God, PRINCE OF PEACE!!! Because what ever she guides us to do in prayer will be for our good and the glory of her son, Jesus. No advice could be better!! What does she say to us? Do whatever he tells you! …. not what we think, what others think, but what he tells us…. this we can discern in prayer and through the revelation of Holy Scripture and the beautiful teachings of the Church.

Let our advisors be few but rather go straight to the hearts of our Blessed Mother and our Most Holy Jesus!!!! Mother of Good counsel pray for us to have the wisdom to know where true life is!!!! only in your SON. The counsel we receive may not be what we want to hear but if we are obedient to Gods word all good will ultimately come out of every situation. Cast all your cares, burdens into the lap of Mary and seek Gods will through and with her for your life.

Pondering Our Lady of Loreto

Dearest of mothers, pray for us.
Model of motherhood prayer for us.

Continuing our reflection on the litany of Loreto we now come to the invocation that we know by experience to be so very true !

Dearest of Mothers, of whom all other motherhood, biological and spiritual have their source and inspiration.
The expectation of becoming a mother for the first time can be daunting, and for certain temperaments, a fearful one, albeit there is within it a divine joy, a joy that comes from God that new life has been conceived.

We look to Mary as the perfect example and model of Motherhood, her attitude despite her initial perplexity and holy fear of welcoming her unborn child with all her heart.Of giving time and herself to the young dependant Jesus, for the giving of her body, her heart to the time Christ Child.
For all the humble services, all the little acts of love that pertain to parenthood. For being ‘ present ‘ and not absent to his needs, and as he grew up supporting his ‘mission’ even though at times she did not understand it.
For the giving of herself, her time with all the sacrifices that involved that he would grow and become fully human and independent in his own right.
For the willingness to let this priceless treasure Jesus in one sense go to do his Fathers will.
For the example of her tender and most beautiful love for her spouse Joseph radiate to allow Gods son to know the beauty of a human family.

For being faithful, constant to her son in his Passion and that supreme sharing….. death… for her fidelity to the end ! despite all the pain and suffering she experienced from seeing the agony both mental and physical of her son.
For her faithfulness to his beliefs and ideals after he had passed from this life..her life was spent for him, she did not look for reward but only to be that love which believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things…. This is such a mirror for us all, yes, Model of motherhood pray for us.

Lovingly,
The Poor Clare Colettine Sisters

Saint Daniel Comboni

St. Daniel Comboni, 1831-1881

This divine Heart bore the wound of the enemy’s lance, in order to pour forth from that sacred wound the sacraments through which the Church was founded. This Heart has never ceased to love men, and continues to live on our altars, a prisoner of love and a victim of propitiation for the whole world. Daniel Comboni

The Italian founder of the Comboni Family, with several Institutes and Congregation to help Africa. The Comboni Family continue their work today with priests, brothers and sisters ministering in hospitals, schools, and orphanages in 41 countries.

Novena

O Father, through the admirable and boundless confidence in you with which you filled the heart of Saint Daniel Comboni, Have Mercy On Us. Glory Be to The Father ……

O Father, through the spirt of sacrifice and the heroic love of the Cross that burned in the heart of Saint Daniel Comboni, Have Mercy On Us. Glory Be to The Father …..

O Father, through the ardent zeal for the poorest and most abandoned souls that inflamed the heart of Saint Daniel Comboni, Have Mercy On Us. Glory Be to The Father ….

PRAYER:

Through the merits and intercession of Saint Daniel Comboni, who spent his entire life seeking your glory and the spreading of your Kingdom among the peoples of Africa, grant me, O Father, the grace for which I now pray …….(silent prayer). You who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen

“Adopt an Unwanted Child or Baby”

Pray for Life!!!! Let us continue our 40 days of reflection on life, and give thanks to God for life in all its forms. Oh how very, very beautiful it is for those unable to conceive a child to adopt an unwanted child or baby ..this too is a gift of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit places a desire in the hearts of the would be parents to nurture, protect and bring forth life.

In every situation in life there are advantages and disadvantages, but one of the great blessings for a child of adoption is the realization how much, how very much it is wanted, and loving desire is beautiful it is also a prayer. How many children know joy, have the blessings of parenthood through adoption?

Countless and indeed in some families even more than one child. These parents are not one breath less true parents than its biological parents, indeed parenting is far more than simply producing children, it is born of love and service, bonding and the sharing of joy and tears. All parenthood should speak to us of God, and adoption has much to say because we are all adopted children of our heavenly Father, wanted and loved. The most profound and beautiful lesson any child can ever learn is that it is loved, because this enables the child to love and respond in turn.

An adopted child will have its struggles, it will have its challenges especially when it has to cope with former rejection, but to know that it was so wanted, prayed for, suffered for, longed for will give the child ultimately a deep security, for none of us can exist without love.

So let us pray for all families nurturing life with a new child in their midst, for all those who are contemplating adoption, and give thanks for them all, they too are great apostles for life !!!

Poor Clare Colettine Nuns

Letter for Life

Dearest Little hearts,

We are on the verge of World wide Rosary day, a day set apart by the Universal Church for prayer, turning in a special way to Mary Our Mother and Queen for aid.

Let us prepare our own hearts today by repentance for our failures to respond to the love of God and our failures in our lack of response to serve and love others….. thus bringing our hearts into tune with the spirit of the day and entering into this great song of prayer.

All around the world, parishes, communities, families, individuals in every walk of life will be praying in some degree.the Rosary…It is not the amount of prayers we offer to God but the love that motivates them , so let us give it our full attention in as far as we can in our struggling and often distracted humanity.

Here at the monastery we will be having a day set apart for this praying of the Rosary with continuous Exposition and the praying of our hours. Join us in spirit, we have the greatest weapons in our hands against evil, the Rosary and our hours ( the Word of God) let us use them to the full and PRAY FOR LIFE, FOR PEACE WITH JUSTICE….. let us support the 40 day campaign for life with prayer, because without it all the plans of men will fall upon a barren wayside.

Let us offer to our heavenly Mother the rose of our love, our very hearts for souls !!
