Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

This feast will be observed on Friday,  June 19, 2009.  You could pray this as a novena offering to Our Lord…

ACT OF CONSECRATION

 TO THE

SACRED HEART OF JESUS

I give and consecrate myself to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, my person and my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being other than to honor, love and glorify the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all His, and to do all things for the love of Him, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to Him. I therefore take Thee, O Sacred Heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death.

Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the strokes of His righteous anger. O Heart of love, I put all my confidence in Thee, for I fear everything from my own wickedness and frailty, but I hope for all things from Thy goodness and bounty.

Remove from me all that can displease Thee or resist Thy holy will; let Thy pure love imprint Thy image so deeply upon my heart, that I shall never be able to forget Thee or to be separated from Thee. May I obtain from all Thee loving kindness the grace of having my name written in Thy Heart, for in Thee I desire to place all my happiness and glory, living and dying in bondage to Thee. Amen.

Embracing the present moment…

Here’s a beautiful post from Mark Mallett, I pray his words will lift you in these days of trial. Keep embracing the present moment, the Holy Spirit is with you today and always.

In our frustrations and discouragement we must be accepting of the present moment… God is with you…

“Do not be afraid, my dear brother! Do not be anxious, dear sister! The Will of God is blowing this very moment in your life and in the world, and it carries within it all that you need. His Holy Will is your sacred refuge.” (Mark Mallett)

Pentecost and the Visitation May 31, 2009

Have any of you reflected on yesterdays feast?  In the year 2009… this is something to truly ponder in meditation…What is God teaching us in this year that ends with the number 9?

Is it perhaps the gift of life?

I know many of you are suffering with the cross of infertility and the loss of a child, this is indeed a very heavy cross, no one can take this from you and no one can lighten the burden accept for the Holy Spirit.  I believe these times are exceptionally heavy because of the lack of respect for the gift of the unborn child.  Our country has lost its love for life…. but we who hope for life must turn to the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  May He breath into your soul right now and bring you the peace that you need in this present moment!  May he use the suffering that you are now enduring for His greater glory as He used St. John the Baptist may He enlighten you right now with the many gifts that you have.

As a wonderful Dominican priest once told me, “Breath Jesus in and breath Jesus out”, this is when we are lacking peace… stretch out your arms and let the Holy Spirit breath into you now.  Reflect on the scripture below and let Our Lord know just how much you love Him, most especially in these trying times.

Yes, it was the feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit, but it was also in memory of the feast of the Visitation….  Do you recall the scripture in the book of Luke?  Let us use this scripture as a time of reflection and let the Holy Spirit bring you rest….

Luke 1:39-55

During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah,

where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit,

cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord  should come to me?

For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

Blessed are you who believed  that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”

And Mary said:  “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;

my spirit rejoices in God my savior.

For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.

The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.

His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him.

He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart.

He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly.

The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty.

He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy,

according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

Our Prayers are with you and we would love to hear from you,

Prayer to St. Joan of Arc

For Faith

In the face of your enemies, in the face of harassment, ridicule, and doubt, you held firm in your faith. Even in your abandonment, alone and without friends, you held firm in your faith. Even as you faced your own mortality, you held firm in your faith. I pray that I may be as bold in my beliefs as you, St. Joan. I ask that you ride alongside me in my own battles. Help me be mindful that what is worthwhile can be won when I persist. Help me hold firm in my faith. Help me believe in my ability to act well and wisely. Amen.

Article from LifeSiteNews.com

As we follow God’s will as faithful believers we are brought joys and sorrows, our hearts must always remember the words of Christ from the sermon on the mount –

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

We must be courageous in our faith and keep looking to the Lord for His holy will.

Please pray for this young mom as we remember each of you tonight in our prayers.

“I am God’s pencil, a tiny bit of pencil with which He writes what he likes; He writes through us, and however imperfect we may be, He writes beautifully.” — Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

Dearest Little hearts,

There is a need within each one of us to be creative, to share somehow in the work of God our Father and Creator….It is a path of conception, nurturing and ultimately giving birth.  We may like to express ourselves in words in prose , poetry, limericks or songs!!!  But there is always something of a thrill and satisfaction when we have finished the work, albeit touched with a sense maybe it could be better!!! there is wisdom in knowing when to stop or declare the work, finished!!

Yes, we can all be a pencil in Gods hand, but the pencil has another very valuable and creative use…. drawing!!! There grows a kind of intimacy between an artist and the pencil/pen, a familiarity, an enjoying being together!!! …….  Anyone who can hold a pen can draw, man drew thousands of years before he ever wrote a word….man is visual as well as conceptual…the problem is that we are influenced far too much by the opinions and expertise of others, we observe something we regard as a good painting and when we cannot measure up we think… no I cant do that ! No you cant but you can do something else….  Try and express yourself on a piece of paper, as Paul Klee said, take the line for a walk !!! just doodle over the paper and feel relaxed… like anything creative it improves with practise. Be humble in your choice of subject when trying to draw, if you have never seen a camel don’t draw one! familiar objects…. or draw symbols that represent some Truth…. A Cross, a heart etc.  etc.

Don’t be too critical of your efforts look at the paper through the eye of a child….

Even if you draw match stick men its  a beginning and even there you can express ideas, so much of our faith can come alive to us if we express it visually…. try and see what happens, be a pencil in Gods hand too…

The aim is not to be another Van Gogh, but to allow the child within to be, all children like to draw…..if you cannot draw something you can see try to express on paper that which is in your heart….

My favourite drawing medium is a plain lead pencil….experiment…. quite recently we were given a picture of Blessed Seelos which I have found fascinating,  it is such an endearing picture, so simple…. a child could have done it or someone with the heart of a child.

Bless you all and please try!!!!

with love,

Our Lords Ascension

“For My Flesh is meat indeed: and My Blood is drink indeed. He that eateth My Flesh, and drinketh My Blood, abideth in Me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent Me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth Me, the same also shall live by Me.”  http://www.fisheaters.com/customseastertide6.html

Most of us have just celebrated Our Lord’s Ascension yesterday.  Thursday which was the usual day of remembrance has now been changed to Sunday in many areas of the world.  Although the days change and things are moved about, Our Lord is never changing.  He will send the Paraclete , our comfortor, intercessor and teacher, He is the Holy Spirit.  We are not alone as He remains hidden with us, body, blood, soul and divinity in the Holy Eucharist, and He comes in the stillness of our hearts when we speak to Him with love.

If you are feeling alone in your journey today, try visiting Our Lord, hidden in the tabernacle at you closest Catholic Church and sit with Him.  He is waiting for you!
Please let us hear from you if you need a prayer!!!

NOVENA For Parents and Loved Ones

Remember your Parents and Loved Ones, Living andDeceased with a gift of prayer

April 2009

Greetings in the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In Sacred Scripture we read, “With all your heart honor your father, and do not forget the birth pangs of your mother. Remember that through your parents you were born; what can you give back to them that equals their gift to you?” (Sirach 7:27-28).

Though Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are not religious holidays, they remind us of the gift of life given to us through our parents by God the Father. Above all others, we as Catholics should honor our parents, because by their generosity in giving us life, God ultimately brought us to the font of Baptism, the Source of Eternal Life. The greatest way we can show gratitude for our parents is by praying for them through the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Father Edmund Sylvia, C.S.C. Chaplain of Living His Life Abundantly® International, Inc. and Women of Grace® and my co-host on EWTN and Women of Grace Live, will celebrate a Novena of Masses between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day for all parents. In the months of May and June, dedicated to Our Blessed Mother and the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray you will join your prayers to ours as we place our parents in their Sacred Hearts.

I invite you to use the link below to send me the names of your parents, grandparents, godparents, or other loved ones who have nurtured you throughout your life so that we may offer this Novena of Masses for their spiritual or temporal needs. In this way, we can truly honor those who have gifted us with life whether biological or spiritual.

May this Novena of Masses yield abundant spiritual fruit for our loved ones. Please join us for this very special prayer opportunity to honor those who cooperated with God to give us life.

In His Service,

Johnnette S. Benkovic
