As I have been thinking about this day, in memory of Our Lady of Hope, who appeared in Pontmain, France. I must correct myself as saying that this is her feast day. I do not have that right to proclaim this as a feast. I was truly just amazed at this story as it brings a spirit of excitement, as a child who hopes for the Lord to hear their prayer. Please forgive me for any confusion I may have caused.
This story is so amazing as Our Lady appears to a people who have lost hope. These are the words our mother spoke to the people of Pontmain who felt no need to pray…
Our Lady speaks –
“but pray, my children. God will hear you in a short time. My Son allows Himself to be moved by compassion.”
Devotion to Our Lady of Hope
is one of the oldest Marian devotions.
The first shrine bearing that title
was erected at Mezieres in the year 930.
