Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery
If you need surgery to treat a cancerous or non-cancerous urological condition, you may be a candidate for a minimally invasive procedure with the da Vinci® Intuitive Surgical Robotics System, instead of a traditional open procedure. Catholic Medical Center was among a select number of hospitals worldwide to first use this FDA-approved advancement in surgical technology.
Using the robotic surgical system, the surgeon can perform delicate urologic procedures through a few small incisions, and patients typically benefit from less pain, fewer infections, a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery than with more invasive surgical procedures. Catholic Medical Center surgeons have extensive experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques and have been using the da Vinci® system for urologic surgery since 2003.
Urology surgeons at CMC perform a wide range of urologic surgical procedures, using minimally invasive or more invasive procedures, depending on the procedure and patient’s condition. Some of these procedures include:
- Robotic nephrectomy
- Ileal loop
- Node dissection
- Laser ablation for bladder tumors
- Transurethral resectionof bladder tumors
- Cystoscopy
- Transurethral resection of prostate
- Retrograde and stent placement
- Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy
- Bladder and kidney stone ablation
- Prostate biopsy
- Circumcision
- Bladder suspension
- Hydrocelectomy
If you need urologic surgery, talk to your surgeon to see if you are a candidate for minimally invasive surgery.

Hi there,
You don’t provide information on Aazospermia. My husband is physically normal, he has been checked twice but has a 0 sperm count. The doctors are attributing it to a blockage rather than non-production. I have been told that IVF-ICSI is our only option for conception or to use a sperm donor. I am also from South Africa, which doesn’t have the same resources as the US.
What are our options?
